Stijn Terpstra (b. 2000) visual artist, based in Breda, The Netherlands.

My practice is grounded in a research-based working method. Through my work, I aim to propose ambiguity and question the implications of technology on our understanding of the world. I examine photography as a means of representation by looking at photographic traditions in modern visual culture, as well as its historic and scientific use. My interest in forms of measuring and calculation of the world around us drives me to explore the gaps in our knowledge and understanding. Using the photographic medium, my image-based projects depict scenes, objects and landscapes providing a perspective into the complexities of our contemporary reality.
