Artist statement
Stijn Terpstra (b. 2000) is a visual artist based in the Netherlands. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from St. Joost School of Art & Design and is currently pursuing a Master's degree (MA) in Comparative Arts and Media at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
His work explores the entanglement of nature, technology, and human perception, examining how technologies mediate our understanding of the world. Through image-based projects, he translates scientific research and human curiosity into a distinctive artistic language. By combining artistic and scientific methodologies, he explores how data, archives, and knowledge are generated and interpreted. His installations merge conceptual and documentary approaches to create narratives, expressed through combinations of still images, videos, and interactive objects.
